Kira Dres has been named the new Deputy State Archivist and Assistant Division Chief at the California State Archives.
Kira originally joined the Archives in 2014 as an Archivist and later served as Managing Archivist of the Collections Management Unit, where she led a team of archivists, preservation staff and interns in the accessioning, processing and preservation of state records in all formats.
Before returning to the Archives in her new role, Kira most recently served as Project Manager for the California State Library’s Digital Concierge Program, overseeing the program’s direction and services.
Kira is a Certified Archivist and holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, a Master of Arts in Public History from California State University, Sacramento, and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
