In early January, Det. III Daniel Hanabusa, Newton Division’s Officer in Charge of the Narcotics Enforcement Detail, retired after 30 years of City service.
Det. Hanabusa was awarded a Medal of Valor by the LAPD, its highest honor in 2011 for bravery during a drug sting shootout.
