Ferralyn Sneed has joined the RLACEI Board of Directors effective March 2026. Ferralyn retired in 2024 after 17 years with LACERS, working as the Assistant Chief and Chief of Retirement Services Division. She retired after 37 years of City service.

In retirement, Ferralyn says she enjoys traveling, cooking and DIY projects.

Why did you decide to join RLACEI?

“I joined because I believe I can be effective and help protect retiree benefits, to voice retiree concerns and issues to all levels of governmental and political leadership.”

What are your goals, and what talents do you bring as a board member?

“I have almost two decades of retirement benefit administration experience, including knowledge of how benefits are established; a strong desire to network with other retirement associations; and learn best practices to ensure RLACEI is doing all it can for its members. My goals are to protect retiree benefits, to make sure members are aware of resources that can improve or enhance their retirement; and to maintain RLACEI’s history of retiree advocacy excellence.”

What do your plan to accomplish serving on the board?

“My goal is to keep members informed on issues that directly or indirectly impact them; help members understand that there is power in numbers; and that their voice does matter. The old adage “the squeaky wheel gets the grease” is true for a reason. It’s important to let the powers that be understand that seniors are paying attention and will work together to effect change.”

What are your passions, especially as a City Retiree?

“I’m passionate about reminding those who serve the senior community that technology is not universally accessible or used by all seniors. The push towards AI in everything is not an acceptable substitute for human interaction. I’m also enthusiastic about making others aware of scams targeting seniors and making seniors aware of benefits they may not know are available beyond their pension.”

The RLACEI board welcomes its newly elected Board Director Ferralyn Sneed.
