Airports honored its volunteers for National Volunteer Appreciation Week by celebrating their service from April 19 to 25. Volunteers participated in a luncheon, airfield tour, and a group painting activity. It was a wonderful way to thank Airports’ 180-plus volunteers who directly assist guests in our terminals daily. Airports manages three volunteer programs – LAXceeders Student Volunteers, Volunteer Information Professionals, and Pets Unstressing Passengers. LAX volunteers welcome guests, assist with airport wayfinding, and ease stress during traveler journeys.

Three Airports volunteers were recognized by the LA Civil Rights Dept., in partnership with Councilmember Curren D. Price Jr. and Rec and Parks, at the first Los Angeles Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. A sincere thanks to Councilmember Curren Price Jr., Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez, the Mayor’s Office of Community Engagement, and Rec and Parks, for helping make this celebration possible.

Those who were recognized were:

  • Steve Holloway (VIP)
  • Monica Cristobal (LAXceeder)
  • Merin Dahlerbruch (PUP)
  • Heidi Huebner, Director of Volunteer and PUP Programs
  • Nancy Aguilar, Management Analyst
