On April 21, 14 LAFD Firefighters completed their training in the UCLA Paramedic Program to become Firefighter/Paramedics. The UCLA program, offered in partnership with the LAFD, is a nine-month program of some of the most demanding medical training in the country, according to the LAFD.

The paramedic training program takes place while candidates continue in their regular duties.

More than 80 percent of LAFD responses are medical emergencies, according to the LAFD, including heart attacks, strokes, overdoses, trauma, and other maladies. Paramedics attend to these medical pre-hospital events.

Forty-six more paramedic candidates are studying through the UCLA program to become future LAFD Firefigther/Paramedics.

The graduates are:

  • Bryan Amaya
  • Erik Bell
  • Ryker Crenshaw
  • Ezequiel Garcia
  • Blake Gelinas
  • Pedro Hinojosa
  • Marcelino Ibarra
  • Christopher Irei
  • George Kallas
  • Brandon Maldonado
  • Michael Ospina

Congratulations to the newest LAFD Firefighter/Paramedics! The Club thanks you for your dedicated service.
