IN MEMORIAM
SUSAN HICKS 1944–2026
Susan Hicks, who worked for the City of Los Angeles for 40 years, lastly at LADOT, passed away Aug. 5. She was a Club Member, having joined in 2012.
Susan dedicated 40 years of her life to serving the City. Through 2008, she was a Captain, responsible for the supervision of up to two Lieutenants, 10 Sergeants and up to 200 employees involved in the enforcement of parking regulations and traffic control, according to her LinkedIn biography. She also supervised 10 Crossing Guards who were responsible for the safety of elementary school students crossing to and from their schools. She also managed clerical staff.
During her time at the City, she met her husband, Milton, who was an Automotive Supervisor in General Services. They shared 36 wonderful years of marriage together.
Susan was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She had a special love for her pets, who brought her great joy and companionship throughout the years – Sophie, her dog; and JR and Boo Boo, her cats.
She will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor, as well as for the many lives she touched.
The Employees Club sends its sympathies and best thoughts to Milton, all her former colleagues, and everyone who mourns her passing.
