After 31 remarkable years with CAL FIRE in San Diego County, Battalion Chief Kari Thompson retires, leaving a legacy defined by leadership, grit and heart.

“Even my mom was like, ‘Are you sure this is what you want to do? She thought it was just a phase,” Batt. Chief Thompson said on her career choice. “It’s been nice to be able to be a role model for other women. People have this misconception that you have to be this big, bulky person, when it’s technique, really … and determination.” She was quoted on ABC 10 San Diego.

As she retires, she thanks the people of San Diego County. “It was an honor, and I really enjoyed it.”

Congratulations, Battalion Chief Thompson. The Club honors and thanks you for your exceptional State service.
