In January, the Club met State employees from across California as they gathered in San Diego for the annual conference of CAL FIRE Local 2881, the labor association representing state Firefighters in workplace matters and professional support.

Local 2881 members serve within CAL FIRE, whose roots trace back to 1885. What began as forest protection has evolved into an all-hazards emergency response department, protecting millions of acres of state responsibility land and responding to wildfires, medical emergencies, and natural disasters across California.

The conference brought together Firefighters and public safety professionals from rural communities and urban regions alike. They have different assignments and different terrain, but they share the same commitment to service.

Across regions and assignments, the mission remains the same: protecting California and supporting one another along the way.

It was great to meet everyone for the first time, or reconnect with our Members!
