Four for Capt. Baez

On Feb. 19, Capt. III Alex Baez, Transit Services Division, received the LAPD’s Excellence in Leadership award for crimefighting efforts, his fourth with five nominations.

“Capt. Baez is honored to celebrate this fourth award and fifth nomination spanning three bureaus and divisions,” Transit Services Division wrote. “He extends his sincere appreciation to the dedicated men and women of the LAPD, particularly those who volunteer their time on their days off to support operations along the MTA system and enhance the safety of LA’s transit community.

“A special acknowledgement is extended to the members of the Transit Services Division, whose unwavering professionalism and commitment serve as the foundation that keeps the LAPD TSD mission moving forward.”

Capt. Baez began serving the LAPD in 1989 and has 37 years of City service. He’s worked in Hollywood, Rampart, Wilshire and Metropolitan Divisions and in Media Relations. As a Supervisor, he’s worked in Central, Civil Rights Integrity, Internal Audits and Newton, and as Captain in Southwest and Newton He is the Commanding Officer of Transit Services.
