JIM HUDSON APPOINTED UNIT CHIEF OVER UNIT.

Effective Nov. 17, Jim Hudson was appointed Unit Chief in the Nevada-Yuba Placer Unit (NEU).

He began his fire service career in 1999 as a Firefighter I in the same unit at the Higgins Fire Station and continued working as an Amador Firefighter for the Higgins Fire Protection District. In 2002, he accepted a Permanent Fire Apparatus Engineer position with the Higgins Fire Protection District.

In 2004, he rejoined CAL FIRE, accepting a Fire Apparatus Engineer position in the Nevada-Yuba Placer Unit. He was assigned to the Placer County Fire Dept. at the Sunset and Lincoln Fire Stations. He became a Fire Apparatus Engineer/Paramedic in the Amador-El Dorado Unit, assigned to Cameron Park Fire Dept and later transferred back to NEU to the Sunset Fire Station. In 2010, he was promoted to Fire Captain within NEU, where he served as the Truck Captain at the Placer County Fire Dept.’s Sunset Fire Station. He became Battalion Chief in 2015 of the NEU unit, and oversaw the Lincoln, Sunset and Dry Creek stations. He was promoted to Assistant Chief of the NEU in 2018, and Deputy Chief in 2020.
