Summer Sports Winners!
The Employees Club of California wrapped up an exciting summer of friendly competition with two successful Club sponsored tournaments, bringing together City departments, employees and their families for days filled with teamwork, fun and community spirit.
On Aug. 31, the Club sponsored a spirited softball tournament at the Glendale Complex, featuring teams from LADOT Engineers, Public Works/Street Lighting, LADWP, the Mayor’s Office, LADOT Traffic Officers, and Rec and Parks. Family members, friends and co-workers filled the stands, cheering on their teams throughout the day. The championship went to the LADWP team, led by Monti Ramorino, who helped guide his teammates to victory in a thrilling finish.
Just more than a month later, on Oct. 5, the action shifted indoors to Pan Pacific Park for a high energy basketball tournament featuring eight teams representing different City departments. The tournament culminated in a nail-biting championship game between the LADWP and the Metro Rec and Parks teams, with Metro Rec and Parks edging out the LADWP by just two points to claim the title.
Both events celebrated not only athletic skill but also the camaraderie and community that make the City of Los Angeles workforce so special. As always, the Club was proud to bring everyone together for another season of fun, fitness, and friendship.
