Retirees gathered at the Friendship Auditorium May 14 in a festive show of patriotism celebrating the red, white and blue as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary. Retirees embraced the spirit of the occasion, with many arriving dressed in patriotic attire and adorned in shades of red, white and blue.
The afternoon began with RLACEI President Ann Seales welcoming attendees, providing updates, introducing the RLACEI Board, and recognizing new board member Ferralyn Sneed. To kick off the festivities, Retirees proudly waved their flags and joined together in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by recognition of those who served in the military. The tribute drew heartfelt appreciation from those in attendance.
The auditorium was beautifully decorated with festive patriotic touches inspired by Entertainment Chair Vicki Keoseian, creating a spirited atmosphere throughout the venue. Retirees also enjoyed taking photos in front of a colorful patriotic backdrop that added to the fun and celebration of the day.
Attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by Mr. Ardi’s Catering, featuring grilled chicken and potatoes, baked beans and pasta salad, with strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Guest speakers included LACERS Commissioner Tom Moutes; Alive! contributing author and “Get Happy” creator Arnette Travis; LACERS Well Senior Benefits Analyst Kristal Baldwin; and Employees Club Director of Digital Marketing Lupe Lira, each of whom shared remarks and updates with attendees.
Alive! editor John Burnes assisted RLACEI Technology Director Joe Quan in capturing the event in pictures.
After the delicious meal was served, excitement filled the auditorium as Retirees checked their winning numbers to see who would come away with prizes. Gifts were generously provided by RLACEI and the Employees Club, adding even more fun to an already memorable afternoon.
The event was a wonderful opportunity for Retirees to reconnect with friends, celebrate patriotism, and enjoy an afternoon filled with fellowship, laughter and appreciation. It was a memorable occasion for all in attendance.
Special thanks go to the RLACEI Board members, whose diligent work helped make the event both successful and enjoyable.
