LAPD The LAPD Custody Services Division’s Van Nuys Jail celebrated National Correctional Officers and Employees Week May 3-9.
Correctional Officers Week recognizes and honors the hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Correctional Officers who serve in a demanding and often thankless profession. It provides an opportunity to show appreciation for the Officers who work every day to maintain safety, security and order while facing difficult challenges both mentally and physically.
Sr. Detention Officer Renee Pizana, Van Nuys Jail, Club Member, planned a week of activities for her fellow Officers to help boost morale and show her gratitude for everything they do. Events throughout the week included coffee and bagels, a trivia day, a snack bar, a photo contest, and goodie bags, ending the week with a barbecue (donated by the station fund) where Officers could relax, enjoy good food and spend time together outside of the stressful work environment. She wanted to make sure her fellow Officers felt valued, appreciated and recognized for their commitment and dedication to the profession, the Department and to each other.
Well done to all! The Club honors Detention Officers for the unique and challenging work they do to keep LA safe.
