K-12 Access Interpreter Kat Gabrielson has received an honor for her interpretive skills – the Favorite PORTS Program award at this year’s Presenter’s Choice Awards.
PORTS stands for Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students.
Few things capture students’ attention quite like charismatic critters, costumes, role playing and humor — all hallmarks of Kat’s engaging interpretive style, according to Cal Parks. Drawing on her background in theater arts and the influence of being raised by a schoolteacher, Kat has a unique talent for connecting with students and making learning both memorable and fun.
Kat is a student interpreter at MacKerricher State Park near Ft. Bragg in Mendocino County.
Kat’s enthusiasm shines through every program, whether she is bringing stories to life, stepping into character or sharing the wonders of California’s natural and cultural heritage. Her creativity and energy translate especially well to virtual audiences, inspiring curiosity and helping students form meaningful connections with the world around them.
