District 4, Office of Traffic Safety join for ceremony at Fallen Workers Memorial.
On April 7, Caltrans District 4 held its annual Workers Memorial to honor employees who lost their lives on the job.
California Office of Traffic Safety Director Stephanie Dougherty joined District 4 staff at the Fallen Workers Memorial in San Leandro. Families, co-workers, friends and community members came together to remember those who dedicated their lives to building, maintaining and operating California’s transportation system.
The day is meant to honor, remember and pay respects to the 195 Caltrans workers, 40 from District 4, who have been killed on the job.
Distracted driving continues to be one of the most significant hazards highway crews face, and Caltrans remains dedicated to creating safe, efficient work zones for both the traveling public and the employees who keep California moving.
