On Sept. 10, the Club hosted its second Pins of Purpose ceremony at Club Headquarters, honoring current employees and Retirees, and in a special moment, celebrating the service of a former employee who had passed away.
Pins of Purpose is the Club’s newest major program to honor, celebrate and thank public employees for their dedicated public service by giving them milestone service pins. The program has quickly become one of the Club’s most popular.
The ceremony was led by Cynthia Ha, Club Relational Ambassador; Dylan Noel, Club Relational Ambassador Coordinator, and Lu Lira, Club Director of Digital Marketing, who joined the honorees and their coworkers in celebrating their public service milestones.
The presentation brought coworkers together to recognize careers spanning from 15 to 39 years of service. Each pin offered an opportunity to pause and celebrate the dedication, relationships and experiences built throughout a career in public service.

Remembering Lilia Liclican
The presentation also included a special recognition of Lilia Liclican, Animal Services, who passed away Aug. 31. Her coworkers wanted to make sure her 25 years of public service were recognized alongside theirs.
Lilia began her career with the City of Los Angeles in 2001 and went on to serve in several accounting roles before joining Animal Services. She eventually became a Chief Accounting Employee, overseeing important financial operations for the department, including accounting, auditing, budgeting, payroll and financial reporting.
Beyond her work, Lilia also gave back to her profession and fellow City employees. She served as Treasurer for the Los Angeles Municipal Association of Accountants and Auditors and as Third Vice President of the Los Angeles Filipino Association of City Employees (LAFACE).
Her recognition during the presentation gave her coworkers an opportunity to honor not only the years she served, but also the colleague and leader they knew.
It was a meaningful reminder of what Pins of Purpose represents: behind every milestone is a person and a story worth recognizing.
